{Julia Riggs: 18 Months}

Usually the saying goes “third time’s a charm”…but lucky for us, second time was a charm, LOL!  I met up with Melanie, Juston and Julia on a beautiful Saturday morning at Misty Wood Park in Roseville, but I think Julia was distracted by the fact that it was a large open area that she could run in, there was a playground right in front of us and she couldn’t play on it while we took pictures and it was a new place to explore in general.  By all of this, I’m saying she wasn’t terribly into having her picture taken, although I, being the quick and sneaky photographer that I am ;o) was able to snag a good amount of shots that were great….we still weren’t able to get a couple important shots (i.e. a family portrait & a few others).  So, we decided after an hour of torturing Julia with dangling the carrot, being the park, in front of her, that we’d reschedule to finish up the session another day.  It ended up working out to reshoot the following weekend, which was fabulous because this time we met at the same park, but walked back behind some homes on trail where there were big oak trees and basically, NO PARK IN SIGHT!  LOL!  It worked wonders!  Julia did an amazing job and I was able to finally capture much more of her beautiful personality, which she is very full of!  She loves to explore, wander, be sang to, mimic the itsy bitsy spider, dance, smile, make fun faces and just be a happy-go-lucky little girl!  Here is a combination of my favorite shots from the first and second session!

BTW, I chose a song that you might feel is a little random and you might not even know it, but let me give you my reasoning…it’s a song from Disneyland that you might hear walking down Main Street USA (and as many of you know I’m a completely huge Disney fanatic!).  When I hear music like this it makes me smile and I feel like a I’m a kid again.  When I was looking back thru the Artist Favorites of Julia, with all her personality then listened to this song, I thought it was perfect!  The smiles and laughter and personality she has, reminds me of being a kid again and I could just picture her taking in all the sights and sounds walking down Main Street USA!  Njoy!

P.S. I hope you guys had a magical time in Disneyland Melanie, Juston & Julia!

{Bailey Smith: 18 Mos}

Bailey turned one back in April 2010 and I had the opportunity at photographing her ‘almost year old portraits’, as well as photographing her first birthday bash!  She is such a doll…very serious at first, but then once we all get her going, she’s all smiles and laughter!  I think her favorite thing is when Daddy barks like a dog…I know he’s not a fan of doing that, but as a parent myself, I know we all do the craziest things to get our kiddos to laugh and smile…hey whatever works, especially for pictures!!!  If only there were a video camera on us 24/7 to see exactly what we all look and sound like, LOL!  So, here are some of my favs from Bailey’s 18 Month Session!  NJoy!

{Mr & Mrs Kirk Amrine: September 4, 2010}

Kirk & Candice were married on Labor Day weekend and I was stoked to not have to drive far for a Wedding on a holiday weekend!!!  Although I have to thank Brian for coming all the way up here from the East Bay to co-photograph with me because he DID have some travelling.  But I’m sure it was well worth the drive because these two love birds had a beautiful Wedding in the comfort of ‘their own home’.  They were  married on Candice’ parents property in Lincoln, CA.  The was amazing!

There were tons of fun details to shoot!   I had originally chosen 167 Artist Favorites, but had to narrow it down as I went thru them, haha!  That is more than an Album’s worth of Favs…I got carried away, I know, but there were so many great shots to feature!  See for yourselves by checking out the slideshow here.  This isn’t even all of the Artist Favs, but it will give you a good idea of all the fun we had photographing Kirk & Candice’ Wedding!  Congrats guys!  I hope your day was everything you hoped for!

{The Lloyd Kiddos}

These munchkins are adorable!  Twins, Kylie & Bradon and their newest sibling, Kassidy, rocked the camera on the third try….as they say (who ever ‘they’ is) “Third times a charm!”  Little Kassidy loves to be on her tummy, so with a few toys and a little goober acting (as mentioned in a previous post: doing whatever it takes to get the kids to look my way and hopefully smile and/or laugh, even if it means embarassing yourself, haha) by daddy, grandma and myself, we were able to get the money shots!  I hope to photograph these kiddos again in the future, they are so much fun to work with!

{Miller Family: August 29th, 2010}

The Miller Family…Mike, Laurel, Tyler and Hailey….we’ve been trying to get something on the calendar for a while now and finally we made it happen!  It was nice to finally meet up with Mike, Laurel and the kiddos.  Their session was done at Humphreys on the Delta in Antioch, which is actually where I photographed Mike’s sisters Wedding back in 2004.  It has been a while since I’d been there…it’s a really nice place for portraits!  They have greenery, the delta and boats…pretty cool stuff!

I don’t think the kiddos were very interested in taking photos at first, but then we started to have fun (translation: I had to act like a goober, jumping out from behind trees and so forth, pretending I was gonna ‘get them’)!  Whatever works!  I don’t mind acting like that, it’s part of my job and as long as no one thinks I’m crazy, I think you’ll see that it worked!  Check out some of my favs from their session!  Njoy!
